Security Services and Cloud Operations

Michael is Vice President of Security Services and Cloud Operations at Cisco.  With data center operations in 20+ countries, his group is responsible for collection of telemetry, processing of threat intelligence, securing billions of web page views, and delivery of subscription updates to Cisco platforms around the globe to create Cisco’s Security Intelligence Operations (SIO).  

Prior to this current role, Michael was Director of Engineering in charge of Cisco’s Intrusion Prevention product line, managing a global team of engineers that delivered IPS solutions across Cisco’s security and routing/switching platforms.  Michael has 20 years of experience in the threat defense and network security fields.

Michael graduated from The Citadel with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and holds a MS degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas – San Antonio.  Following graduation, he served in the US Air Force in a variety of engineering and intelligence roles.  Michael joined Cisco in 1998 through the acquisition of WheelGroup.
